I start most canvasses the same way– with left over paint from the previous painting session. Sometimes I listen really deeply to the canvas– that’s what happened with this one, and I soon found myself using this canvas as I worked on other paintings– I don’t know why I didn’t consider what I was doing a backgound layer here, but I didn’t question it, instead I eventually found myself peeling back the layers to uncover what was beneath. It was exciting to see it develop, and even more exciting to de-construct areas.
